The growing integration of digital signage software with other channels will accelerate its compatibility with the Internet of Things, helping digital signage to expand its reach and user base, writes Florian Rotberg.

The integration of the Internet of Things (IoT) and digital signage is getting closer: in retail, for example, air conditioning and in-store LED walls can be synced with store openings to prevent power surges. And in the evenings, digital signage touchpoints can be shut down in the same manner.

Whether general sensors or high-tech products for specialized applications, IoT platforms are moving from the smart home sector into the B2B world where they can improve sustainability and convenience just the same.

In the future, systems like heating, cooling, and lighting will have to work seamlessly with digital signage and retail tech sensors. This integration is key to both reducing energy consumption and enhancing customer experience.
